Astartus' Guide to Salvage Refining & Crafting v0.1

10/26/2005

With the addition of Supergroup (or Villiangroup) bases, prestige and the new Salvage system, supergroup members will now be able to create new Salvage and items for the Base.

I will try to write a easy guide to understand the idea behind this system and how it works.

Ok, now let's try to start:

If you want to get salvage, you have to be a) in a Super(Villain-)group and b) be in Supergroup mode.

When fighting the enemies around Paragon City and the Rogue Isles you might get salvage additional to your normal influence, prestige, enahncement and inspiration drops.

When you first get a salvage, a new option will appear over your power bar, next to the "Enhancement" option. In CoV this is labeled "Salvage", in CoH it will be most likely "Inventory" (got this from a screenshot).

Clicking on this option will open a new window where you will see a icon of the salvage, the name and the quantity of the salvage pieces. There seems to be no limit to your "bag" so you can carry around hundreds of salvaged pieces.

Now to the interesting part, refining salvage:

To refine salvage you (or your Group) needs a base.

Inside the base will be an item, that looks like a huge stone table with a glowing light in the middle (sadly I forgot the name, I might edit it later).

To Start refining you have to click on the table and a new window will open (So far only one person can interact with this table. If another player is still working with the table you will get a message that playername is interacting with the object).

In the new window you will see a huge selection of tabs, most labeled with the names of villain factions like "Mooks", "Snakes" but also "NemesisAutomatons" or "Carnival". You will see that there are also factions that aren't present in CoV, but in CoH. This leads to the assumption that the same window will be there for CoH.

If you remember where you get the salvage you can go to the respective tabs (for xample, if you got a Body Armor Fragment from a Mook minion you should open the tab labeled "Mook").

When you open the tab you will see several options (at the moment most are labeled with P-Strings, which will hopefully be fixed soon). A small button on the right side (similar to the buttons un CoH souvenirs) will expand the current selectiona nd you will see which salvage you need to create this specific piece, and how many items you have of the needed stuff (if any).

There is also a small button in the lower left, where you can see all "reciepes" which use salvage that you carry at the moment.

If you want to create the stuff for this "reciepe" just hit the small "Create" button that will show up.

This is the quick overview of how to refine salvage, but the best part comes now:

There are even some tabs labeled "SG", "Turrets", "Teleporters" etc.

In these tabs you will be able to create items for your SG base, like new teleporters, cturrets, sentries and traps.

But you need huge amounts of special salvage, which can be created with the affore mentioned "reciepes".

For Example:
If you want to create a Teleporter, you need 6 salvage of the type "Tech Material" and 6 salvage of the type "Tech Power". Each of these 2 salvage types can be created through various ways. If you fight alot Mooks, you'll get "Black Market Super Stuff" and "Body Armor Fragments" which can be refinded into "Tech Material". But if you fight lots of Arachnos soldiers, you might get "Broken Arachnos Gun" and "EChips" which also can be refined into "Tech Material" (only through another recipe under a tab named "Arachnos").

This way the whole SG (or VG) has to collect salvage to create some of the more interesting base stuff and layout.

Hope this guide is understandable and of some help......
I might edit and enhance it later.
